The Urbanists were appointed by Amey and Herefordshire County Council to assist the re-design of Widemarsh Street alongside Hamilton-Baillie Associates and Anthony Jellard Associates.
Widemarsh Street is a busy retail location in the town centre and was suffering from poor traffic management. In addition to this the architectural quality of the facades was not reflected in the quality of the public realm.
The scheme design promotes pedestrian priority and the creation of a slow speed traffic environment using high quality natural materials.
The scheme was commended by the UK Street Design Awards 2011.
