The Valley Centre, Rawtenstall
This scheme for CNC Properties involves the re-development and regeneration of the Rawtenstall town centre shopping precinct which is located within the town’s Conservation Area.  The original building (built circa 1960) creates a hostile and unattractive town centre environment and no longer meets modern commercial retail requirements.  It is proposed to create a new town centre environment and the redevelopment is regarded by the Local Authority’s as the lynchpin in its strategy for the regeneration of the town.  The project involves a new covered shopping mall and significant environmental enhancements to the surrounding area.  Existing pedestrian links through the area are to be strengthened improving connectivity with the bus station.

The scheme also comprises restaurants and bars plus residential uses and car parking.  Significant pre-application public consultation was undertaken through exhibitions and the local press.  It was also presented to the National CABE Panel, who give it strong support.
