Design advice for building enhancements
The Urbanists and Powell Dobson Architects have won an important commission with Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council to improve the quality of buildings in Merthyr Tydfil and Treharris.
The Urbanists were appointed to prepare and manage the planning process for this significant development within the Port Talbot steelworks site. The pre-application process required close contact with the LPA and agreement of the scope of the application prior to submission. It also involved the preparation and submission of an EIA scoping opinion. The comprehensive full planning submission was co-ordinated by the Urbanists, who also prepared the detailed Design and Access Statement, and strategic landscaping scheme.
The work was required to be undertaken in a very short timescale due to the client's operational and logistical requirements. Our approach allowed the LPA to grant full permission in just over three weeks from the submission of the application.
We remain engaged during the project implementation stage through management of the discharge of conditions process to allow a timely start on construction works.
Powell Dobson Architects are the lead architects.
