New Commissions

Frideswide Square Oxford

Earlier this month the Urbanists were retained as urban and landscape design advisors to Oxford County Council for the detailed stages of the redesign of Frideswide Square Oxford.

The aims of the scheme are to improve the sense of arrival to Oxford and to turn the existing vehicle dominated environment into one which is more legible and comfortable for all users including pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

It is hoped that as well as providing movement and accessibility related benefits, the investment into the space by Oxford County Council will catalyse the regeneration of the West End of the City Centre by creating a memorable public space.

Lower New Inn Environmental Improvement Works

Following the preparation of aprogrammeof environmental improvement proposals for Lower New Inn near Pontypool, The Urbanists have been retained by Bron Afon Community Housing to develop the proposed improvements to detailed design and implementation stages.

The Urbanists have worked with a group of local residents to identify what the priorities are for improving the area and we are looking forward to working with the same residents to develop landscape designs.  It is hoped that the residents will also be involved in implementing the works so they will have been engaged in all stages of the process.  This project clearly reflects The Urbanists passion for ‘Collaboration by Design’.

Some more information about our work with Bron Afon can be found here.
