Newport City centre masterplan refresh
The Urbanists were appointed by Newport Unlimited (as a sub-consultant to Navigant Consulting) to review and refresh the Regeneration Masterplan for the City. Our role was to provide placemaking and urban design advice to the lead consultant and Newport Unlimited by advising on the spatial elements of how the masterplan should be refreshed.
We developed recommendations on how a portfolio of synchronised projects would be composed within a masterplan refocused upon the City Centre. In doing this we developed a number of complementary districts which would help define parameters for future regeneration activity in the City Centre. Within these districts we worked with the original masterplan to devise a refreshed regeneration masterplan and action plan for the City Centre.
