Hilton Hotel landscape design (York)

A new planning permission was required for a circa 160 bedroom hotel, including public realm improvements, on previously developed land just outside the City of York historic walls and adjacent to the city core conservation area.

The Urbanists provided comprehensive planning consultancy services including pre-application public / stakeholder consultations, scoping of the application with the LPA, and officer meetings. The Urbanists also prepared, co-ordinated and scripted the Design and Access Statement and an Heritage Assessment. This considered the impact of the proposals on the setting of the Scheduled Ancient Monument and grade I listed building (the walls), and its effect on the character and appearance of the central city conservation area.

Our inputs ensured that the client and operators short timescales for the planning submission were met combined with meeting relevant planning requirements.

The Urbanists also provided landscape design and masterplanning services.
